After only 1 day - relaxations in Frankfurt are withdrawn

Today in Hesse the relaxations decided by the state government came into force. Also in Frankfurt. There, however, they will be taken back again tomorrow, Friday. The reason for this is the current 7-day incidence of 37.6 per 100,000 inhabitants (as of 22 July 2021, 3.15 am), with which the critical incidence threshold of 35 is reached. This means, for example, for events and cultural offerings such as cinemas, concerts and theatres, that the number of participants cannot be increased here. In addition, indoor events and indoor catering, as well as overnight stays in hotels, must continue to present a negative test, vaccination or convalescent proof.

To maintain the rules in place in recent weeks, the city of Frankfurt has issued a new general order, as required by the state of Hesse. This will be available on the City of Frankfurt's information page at frankfurt.de and will go into effect on Friday, July 23.

In Frankfurt, there is currently little evidence of a containable infection pattern. Rather, the increase in infections continues to take place in the broad population. On the occasion of an accumulation of Covid-19 infections among guests at a Frankfurt club event with 30 people testing positive so far, Head of Health Stefan Majer and the Deputy Head of the Health Department, Dr. Antoni Walczok, once again point out the risks of infection that still exist. As understandable as the desire to return to normality and social gatherings is, distances should be observed and masks worn, especially at celebrations in private or public areas.

"The fourth wave of infection is already in the door. We call on the citizens of Frankfurt to behave responsibly in the interest of all. You can all help to ensure that the number of cases does not continue to rise and that we can avert renewed restrictions," Majer and Walczok ask emphatically.

In connection with the current discussion about appropriate criteria for relaxations or restrictions, the city of Frankfurt points out that the escalation concept of the state provides the municipalities with the sole orientation on incidence figures.
