Almost 5000 Frankfurt residents participate in gift drive for socially disadvantaged children

(ffm) "Dear Santa Claus, I wish for .", so or so similar about 5000 children from 95 Frankfurt institutions wrote down their Christmas wishes. For the 23rd time, the Frankfurt Children's Office organized the campaign "Your Christmas present for Frankfurt children", in which almost 5000 Frankfurt residents participated this year to fulfill the gift wish of a child from a socially disadvantaged family for Christmas. "It went very well - the people of Frankfurt could once again be counted on this year", Christine Noth from the Frankfurt Children's Office was pleased to say. Only 58 wish lists were left over, she says, and in the end they were still taken care of by the Children's Office.

Every year the wish lists are displayed for three weeks on Christmas trees in various shops and Volksbank branches in Frankfurt. Anyone who wants to participate can take a wish card from the tree, make the wish worth 20 to 25 euros, and then drop off the gift either at the store or at the Frankfurt Children's Office. Many companies also participate by having their employees fulfill the wishes.

Preparations for the campaign begin as early as September. More than 15 freelancers and trainees help with the campaign, which is financed exclusively by donations. The hot phase begins shortly before Christmas, when the gifts are collected from the more than 100 locations in Frankfurt, sorted in the warehouse and finally handed over to the facilities. To ensure that every gift ends up with the right child, the gifts are assigned via a barcode on the child's wish list - so that every child can enjoy their personal Christmas gift.
