From January 24 to 28, one of the longest charity walk campaigns made a stop at Frankfurt's MyZeil shopping center. The "Walk & Give" campaign has been touring major German cities for more than three quarters of a year now, and has so far been able to help many associations raise funds for the next generation of clubs or for other projects selected by them.
The principle is simple: runners from the participating clubs should try to keep a treadmill moving for three hours and complete as many kilometers as possible within this time. For every kilometer run, ten euros are donated to the respective club.
At the "Walk & Give" campaign in MyZeil, a total of five Frankfurt clubs took part and together achieved a donation total of almost 2,000, -€. The Frankfurt Rowing Club achieved the most kilometers and thus the highest donation total worth 524, -€. In addition, the following clubs participated in the charity run: TSG Fechenheim, the cheerleading department of the Frankfurt Pirates, the sports community Enkheim, the Frankfurt Rowing Club 1884 and the Masifunde Bildungsförderung e.V.
But that was not all, because the participation even paid off twice for two clubs. Because beside the money for the run kilometers on Saturday, 28 January, among all participating associations, two donation cheques at a value of altogether 1.500, -€ were drawn by lots. The TSG Fechenheim won the additional donation check in the amount of 500, -€, which was provided by MyZeil. The donation check for 1,000, -€, which was provided by the health insurance company BIG direkt gesund, won the cheerleading department of the Frankfurt Pirates.
"It's great that the Frankfurt clubs have used this opportunity and so much money for their club coffers could run. We are very happy that we can additionally support TSG Fechenheim with our 500,-€ donation check, because due to Corona and the effects of the crisis, the clubs do not have it easy," said Andrea Poul, Center Manager.
