Eintracht Frankfurt will rely on a photovoltaic system from Mainova in the future. With an output of almost 100 kilowatt peak, it ensures a sustainable power supply for the home of the Eintracht family. Oliver Frankenbach, Member of the Board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG, and Diana Rauhut, Member of the Mainova Board of Management, jointly took a look at the new powerhouse.
246 high-quality modules on the parking lot roof of the ProfiCamp in Deutsche Bank Park will be collecting solar power with immediate effect. Their total area is around 480 square meters. By comparison, the penalty area of a soccer field measures 665 square meters. The projected annual yield is around 95,000 kilowatt hours and is consumed directly on site. With the amount of electricity generated, Eintracht covers more than ten percent of the ProfiCamp's energy needs. Thus, the plant avoids almost 60 tons of CO2 emissions per year.
Behind the energy solution is a so-called onsite power purchase agreement. This means that Mainova plans, builds, operates and finances the PV system for the customer. The latter benefits from the low-cost solar power from day one.
Eintracht CEO Frankenbach says: "This photovoltaic system is another important building block for the increasing use of renewable energies. We are very pleased that we can rely on the proven performance of a reliable and regional partner for this."
Mainova board member Rauhut says: "Our long-standing partner Eintracht Frankfurt has recognized sustainability as a strategic issue with the highest priority. In the past, we have already played many successful double passes in energy supply. Now we are hitting the next bull's eye with the sustainable complete solution. We are delighted about the trust placed in our energy expertise."
Mainova and Eintracht have been playing as one team for more than 20 years. This includes an energy partnership. Among other things, Mainova operates the energy plant technology of the ProfiCamp. It ensures an environmentally friendly heating and cooling supply there in the legal form of contracting. In the ProfiCamp parking garage in Deutsche Bank Park, the Bundesliga club uses a charging solution with 20 charging points from the energy supplier. In addition, thanks to digitalization, the partners water the green spaces around Deutsche Bank Park smartly and as needed with the aim of reducing consumption and conserving resources. All these solutions actively help the traditional club achieve its sustainability goals.
