Erna, the tree needles: Fixed collection dates for Christmas trees

Nice it was again - Christmas with a colorfully decorated tree in the living room. But as wonderful as it is when the lights on the tree bring a little extra warmth into your own four walls, there comes a time when the little tree has to disappear again - at the latest when there are more needles on the ground than on the tree.

But where to put the Christmas tree when it has had its day? Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH (FES) offers two options for disposal.

One variant is the bio or residual waste bin: the prerequisite is that the trees are freed of all ornaments and shortened to pieces of no more than one meter and placed next to the bins on the emptying days.

The other option is to dispose of them on district-specific collection dates, with which FES has had good experience in the past two years. From Monday, January 8, through Friday, January 26, special vehicles will be used to collect Christmas trees only. Trees can be placed at the property line - that is, easily accessible and visible - on the dates listed. They should be de-trimmed, but do not need to be specially trimmed.

The dates are:

08 January Niederrad, Sachenhausen-Nord

09. January Gallusviertel, Gutleutviertel, Griesheim

10. January Bockenheim, Westend

11. January Nordend

12. January Oberrad, Ostend

15. January Bergen-Enkheim, Fechenheim, Riederwald

16 January Seckbach, Bornheim

17 January Berkersheim, Preungesheim, Eckenheim, Dornbusch (including Frankfurter Bogen)

18. January Nieder-Erlenbach, Nieder-Eschbach, Harheim, Bonames, Frankfurter Berg (including Ben-Gurion-Ring)

19. January Kalbach-Riedberg, Niederursel, Eschersheim, Mertonviertel

22 January Heddernheim, Ginnheim, Hausen

23. January Praunheim, Rödelheim

24 January Sossenheim, Nied, Höchst (including Henri-Dunant-Siedlung)

25. January Unterliederbach, Zeilsheim, Sindlingen, Flughafen

26 January Sachsenhausen-Süd, Schwanheim, (including Goldstein)

In the districts of Altstadt, Innenstadt and Bahnhofsviertel, trees are taken away as part of regular street cleaning.

The border between Sachsenhausen South and North runs along Offenbacher Landstraße and Mörfelder Landstraße.

The deployment schedule of the Christmas tree truck is also available on the Internet at <link http: www.fes-frankfurt.de _blank>

.

The FES hopes the combination of the two will result in faster removal of the several thousand Christmas trees. Since the collection tours are not yet known to all Frankfurt residents, it is possible that trees will still be visible in the cityscape for several days. The FES asks for your understanding. Those who wish can also bring their Christmas tree directly to RMB Rhein-Main Biokompost GmbH or to the FES recycling centres and hand it in there free of charge
