On the occasion of the 100th birthday of the German humorist Vicco von Bülow, better known as Loriot, a unique collection with 700 exhibits is on display at the Caricatura Museum Frankfurt. Loriot is considered one of the nation's most important humorists and has left a lasting mark on the German humor landscape with his unique style. His cartoons, sketches and films are still unforgotten today and have become embedded in the vernacular as winged words.
Yesterday, the opening of the exhibition took place with a grand ceremony in front of the Caricatura Museum in the shadow of Frankfurt Cathedral. Loriot's daughter Susanne von Bülow and the artist Hans Traxler (New Frankfurt School) were present. In his laudatory speech, Hans Traxler expressed his gratitude that Frenz had brought the Loriot collection to Frankfurt.
"Loriot was and is our greatest humor authority," emphasized museum director Achim Frenz. For him, the exhibition is the last before his retirement.
