For the past 16 years, the Stalburg Theater from Frankfurt's Nordend has celebrated the Stalburg Theater Offen Luft, or STOFFEL for short, in the beautiful ambience of Günthersburgpark. Music, cabaret and children's theatre - and with free admission - that naturally attracts an audience. So it's no wonder that this open-air event has long been one of the most important cultural dates in the summer for many Frankfurt residents. But the realization of this event is really no easy matter for the organizers. In recent years, they have had to deal not only with financial losses due to extreme heat, for example, but also with complaints from local residents. Truly no pleasure - but nevertheless the team of the Stalburg Theatre has always managed to please the audience.
Next year STOFFEL would come of age. But now lovers of the festival must fear for its continued existence, as the 17th edition, which was scheduled for this summer, has had to be cancelled. Due to the current restrictions caused by the Corona virus, the cultural festival is simply not feasible. Months of planning have now come to nothing. The Stalburg team does not receive support from the state, although this is actually promised to organizers of open-air events. The problem: STOFFEL does not charge admission to visitors and only collects voluntary donations on site. And since there would be no loss of entrance fees, there is just no support.
The danger is that Frankfurt loses a really beautiful and unique cultural festival. And we must not let that happen. To this end, the Stalburg Theater has launched the campaign "Without us? Not with us!" which you can also support. A kind of virtual red bucket that can now be filled by all STOFFEL fans: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ohne-uns-nicht-mit-uns-stalburg-theater
