A very special success story celebrates its anniversary. And of course it will be quite spectacular! With more than 330 million visitors since the first performance in December 1943, HOLIDAY ON ICE is the most visited ice show in the world. The 75th anniversary will be celebrated from 9 to 13 January in Frankfurt's Festhalle with a show that will take the audience on a thrilling journey through the history of HOLIDAY ON ICE. Rohene Ward, Veronika Grigoreva and Joyce den Hollander, star skaters of HOLIDAY ON ICE, now gave a small insight into what the audience can expect at SHOWTIME at a press event in the Eissporthalle Frankfurt. In the show, the international professional skaters will thrill the audience with their skills in numerous performances in breathtaking costumes. That this will succeed, there was no doubt at the latest after the performance to the song "Happy".
"I feel very honoured to be part of HOLIDAY ON ICE in this special year, the 75th anniversary. In the show, I take on many different roles and get to use my creativity as a performer, it's really a lot of fun," reports crowd favorite Rohene Ward. He will be joined by up to 40 of the world's best figure skaters for this very special show experience in the Festhalle. But anyone who has ever experienced a HOLIDAY ON ICE production knows that these shows live not only from the great artists. And it will be no different at the anniversary.
For the elaborately designed stage set, the largest LED wall of a live tour projects impressive image sceneries, and around 300 brilliant, handmade designs create a colorful, extravagant costume world. "For HOLIDAY ON ICE's 75th birthday, we have assembled a team of leading international creatives, cast the best figure skaters and integrated bungee artists into the show for the first time," said Peter O'Keeffe, CEO of HOLIDAY ON ICE. That's when the audience's eyes will sparkle with excitement and many a mouth will be wide open in amazement.
With the Olympic and World Champions Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot, HOLIDAY ON ICE has succeeded in winning the currently most successful pair skaters in the world for the international show family. The two professional skaters are also the faces of the Academy, newly launched for the 75th anniversary, a future-oriented format aimed at the next generation of figure skaters. "HOLIDAY ON ICE is unique. Every figure skater dreams of this big stage. All the more we are happy not only to perform at HOLIDAY ON ICE ourselves, but also to be able to give many young talents this chance and we are proud to support the ACADEMY," says Alyona Savchenko. In Frankfurt, Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot will be seen in the performance on 09 January at 7 pm.
Then Lena Sommer will also get the chance for the big performance at SHOWTIME. The thirteen-year-old young talent has been on skates since she was four years old and trains with the LSC Bad Nauheim. As one of the five best applicants from all over Germany, Lena was already able to take part in the Master Class Workshop in Oberstdorf in November, where she received tips and tricks directly from Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot, her great role models. "The workshop was a lot of fun and I learned a lot. Aljona and Bruno told me many things to improve, which I never noticed before", the young talent reported enthusiastically afterwards. She competed in her first competition at the age of five and has loved to thrill the spectators with her double jumps ever since. In Frankfurt, she will get her own "showtime" alongside the professional runners at the premiere.
