Frankfurt should become cleaner. And everyone who loves the city can make a contribution. Because on September 21, the first city-wide cleanliness day "Frankfurt Cleanup" will start as part of the World Cleanup Day 2019. Therefore, all citizens are called upon to register for "Frankfurt Cleanup" until September 5.
"All Frankfurt residents are asked, because they know best in their city, as we all know," says Rosemarie Heilig, Head of the Department for Environment and Women, and patron of the cleanliness action day. This year, she said, is the first time the team from #cleanffm, the city's cleanliness campaign, has partnered with World Cleanup Day. "Join us. Whether in large or small groups, whether from the districts or companies and from shops: look for fellow campaigners. Let us together set a sign worldwide against the littering of our city, against the flood of waste on our planet," underlines the head of department.
Holger Holland, project manager of World Cleanup Day Germany, adds: "The world is our lifeline and we need it to be free of waste and especially plastic! Therefore, we are very happy to have found an important partner in the city of Frankfurt am Main." Alongside Berlin and Munich, Frankfurt is the third major partner among Germany's largest cities,
The aim of Cleanliness Day is to use the global campaign to activate people to make their own contribution to a cleaner environment in their immediate neighbourhood. But also to raise their own awareness for a different approach to packaging and related littering.
The campaign is supported by the FES, which provides all those who participate with the necessary equipment free of charge, such as reusable gloves, garbage tongs and garbage bags.
It also provides the registration platform http://cleanup.fes-frankfurt.de or http://www.ffmcleanup.de, where anyone interested can find out all about "Frankfurt Cleanup". Those who prefer to do so in person can do so at the FES - Servicecenter in the city center at Liebfrauenberg 52-54.
