Congratulations: in December 1982, a whopping 40 years ago, Volker Riedel opened the first comic store in Germany together with his friend and business partner Rainer Krebs in Frankfurt. He was inspired by a visit to a comic store in Paris. He was so enthusiastic about this store full of new comics and merchandise that he wanted to open such a store in Frankfurt as well. Only Riedel himself was probably convinced that the comic shop would last long. But he was proved right. For despite many challenges, such as most recently the Corona pandemic, his ""X-tra-BooX" on Berliner Straße is still THE place to go for all comic fans even after forty years.
There it doesn't matter whether you love "Asterix" and "Mickey Mouse" or rather Mangas, Marvel or graphic novels. On three floors, you can find everything your comic heart desires. And if the issue or volume you're looking for isn't in stock, the ""X-tra-BooX" team will get it for you as quickly as possible. Here, you are really in good hands and receive excellent advice. So it's no wonder that comic fans of all ages are always happy to come to the store.
This also applies to prominent cartoonists who have honored themselves here over the years for signing sessions. This has sometimes led to very long lines in front of the store, as have various special promotions, such as "Free Comic Book Day". It's nice that in a city like Frankfurt, where so much is constantly changing, there are still small constants like ""X-tra-BooX". Let's hope that this comic store will stay with us for a long time. For now, we're excited to see what Volker Riedel and his team have come up with for the anniversary year. In this sense: Congratulations on this anniversary - and here's to the next 40 years!
