Get out of the basement: Clean out for the 15th PfennigBazar

Collection dates start on April 10

In a few days the collection dates for the "15th PfennigBazar" start. Shortly after easter it starts. On Tuesday, April 10, for the first time this year, the volunteers will be ready to accept your donations in kind, which can easily be resold to support MS patients in Frankfurt and Hesse. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., you can drop off clothing, household goods, art or toys that are in good condition and can be resold. The collection point is set up at the Frankfurt forwarding agency Fermont.

There are a total of six collection dates until 19 June. For the 15th time, the "PfennigBazar" will open its doors on Tuesday, September 4, and Wednesday, September 5, at Frankfurt's Dominican Monastery. For two days, customers can browse and shop in the "second-hand department store for a good cause" - true to the PfennigBazar motto "Shop for small money, help in a big way".

Since its premiere in 2004, help for MS patients in Frankfurt and Hesse has been the focus of this comprehensive charity event, which is the work of a group of dedicated ladies. The organizing team at that time consisted of Renate von Metzler (former chairwoman and now honorary chairwoman of DMSG Hessen), Susie von Verschuer-Bär (managing director of Spedition Fermont and former board member of DMSG Hessen), Ingrid Pajunk (Frankfurt PR lady and moderator), Alexandra Princess of Hanover (then board member of Hospizverein St. Katharina, unfortunately deceased in 2015) and Gerhild Börsig (initiator and idea giver). The ladies wanted to use their contacts in Frankfurt society to collect high-quality clothing, toys, art and household goods and sell them at a charity bazaar. With success: today the PfennigBazar is well established in Frankfurt and for many a fixed date in the annual calendar. However, this is only possible thanks to the many and well-preserved donations in kind.

Collection dates and external drop-off points

At the collection dates, donors can drop off clean, washed and resalable women's, men's, children's and baby clothing as well as shoes, belts, hats, bags, jewelry, knickknacks, art, porcelain, ceramics, decorative items, household goods, board games or children's toys. Electrical items, books, suitcases, CDs/records will not be accepted. Collections will be every 2nd Tuesday starting April 10, other dates: April 24, May 8 and 22, June 05 and last time on June 19 from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The collection point is the premises of Spedition Fermont (Frankfurt-Bockenheim, Rödelheimer Landstraße 11). Those who cannot attend the collection dates in Frankfurt can drop off donations externally: Hofgut Mathes (Eschborn-Niederhöchstadt) tel. 06173/63305; Michael Geiger (Eschborn), tel. 06196/940054; Taunus Textilpflege, Kronberg, from 3 April, tel. 06173/79614.

New helpers welcome

The organisation of the collection dates and the PfennigBazar is a challenge and a feat for which every lending hand can be used. New helpers are very welcome. The volunteers receive the donations, sort and pack them into boxes. On the bazaar days, the helpers are the good spirits, fill up the clothes racks and shelves, and give friendly and competent advice in the "PfennigBazar" department store. Who is interested in helping voluntarily at the collection dates and at the PfennigBazar, please contact Karin Herring of the DMSG Hessen, Tel. 069/405898 - 21, Email: <link>herring@dmsg-hessen.de
