After the Grüneburgpark and the Holzhausenpark, where the renewal work began a few weeks ago, another park is now undergoing a basic beauty treatment: Ostpark. Here, the basic renewal of the park will begin in the coming weeks.
(kus) Before the actual construction work, the area must be examined for possible unexploded ordnance or other explosive ordnance. This will be followed by the renovation of the popular but aging park in several sections. This will allow the green space to remain open during construction.
First, the playgrounds will be rebuilt: For toddlers, a new play area will be built near the main driveway, and for all ages, another will be built on the large east park lawn. They will replace the current play area on the pond bank and should be ready as early as next summer.
By then, the barbecue area will also have been rearranged: Paved islands in the lawn for setting up grills and two new locations for trash disposal will then be available in this area.
Another focus is on replacing the heavily worn paths.
The planting areas will receive rejuvenation pruning in some areas and new shrubs and trees will be added. The plant species used will pick up on the idea of the original planting and the image of the historic park, which was created between 1907 and 1911, is to be made more tangible again.
The construction measures in the historic East Park are taking place in close coordination with the Frankfurt Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments and the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments in Wiesbaden. Special emphasis is being placed on the protection of the old tree population.
The work is expected to last until September 2018. During the construction period, citizens will be informed about the planned measures directly at each section. The Parks Department's website at <link http: www.gruenflaechenamt.stadt-frankfurt.de _blank>
