It's time to roll again: start of the Tuesday Night Skater season

On rollers through the city: this has long become a nice tradition in Frankfurt. From spring until the end of Central European Summer Time, skaters roll through the city every Tuesday - weather permitting. This will also be the case in 2019: this year's Tuesday Night Skater ("TNS") season begins on Tuesday, April 2. As usual, the starting point is the Hafenpark in the Ostend. The starting signal falls at 20.30 o'clock. Several hundred skaters are expected at the kick-off.

"With their energy, the Tuesday Night Skaters send a strong positive signal in our colorful and dynamic sports city of Frankfurt," says sports department head Markus Frank at the start of the season. Organiser Dirk May has been in charge of preparing and running the skater tours for 20 years. Thanks to his commitment and the support of the public order office, police, ambulance services as well as the transport companies, the skate tours can once again take place weekly without any significant traffic obstructions.

Even beginners and those returning to the sport are invited. For them, a "TNS Light Tour" is offered on the first Tuesday of every month, with a shorter route and more relaxed pace. Those who just want to try it out should join such a tour. However, safe braking and riding technique are basic requirements for participation. Wearing a helmet and protectors is recommended. The routes are usually between 27 and 34 kilometres long. The event usually ends around 11 p.m. at the Hafenpark. Accompanied by police and paramedics, as well as around 80 stewards, the colorful bunch will ensure safety and a smooth flow.

Please note: There will be no TNS Tour on April 30 due to preparations for the Eschborn-Frankfurt cycling classic.

Information about the respective tours is always published on Tuesdays on the TNS homepage, at http://www.t-n-s.de. The website also contains the "TNS Traffic Rules", which should be familiar to all active skaters.
