And indeed, the works of the Swedish filmmaker are almost all considered classics of film history. The cinema of the Deutsches Filmmuseum celebrates Bergman, who received the Goethe Prize of the City of Frankfurt in 1976, with an extensive monthly series dedicated to his collaboration with the great actress and his muse: Liv Ullmann.
The now 79-year-old Norwegian will be a personal guest on the occasion of the film series on Wednesday, June 20. In a foyer talk with director Ellen Harrington on June 20, she will offer insights into her career and working alongside Ingmar Bergman. Liv Ullmann has chosen two films for the evening of her visit: HÖSTSONATEN (Autumn Sonata, FR/ BRD/SE/GB 1978) shows her alongside Ingrid Bergman; the film won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film in 1979. TROLÖSA (The Faithless, SE/IT/DE/FI/NO 2000) is one of Ullmann's own directorial efforts, Ingmar Bergman wrote the screenplay. Remaining tickets for the event go on sale Tuesday, June 19, at 10 a.m. at the museum box office.
