On Saturday, September 15, 2024, the city of Frankfurt will once again open its doors for the Newcomers Festival, which will take place for the 24th time this year. In the Römerhallen on Römerberg, newly arrived residents, expats and their families will have the opportunity to find out all about life in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region from 1 pm to 5 pm. Admission is free, but pre-registration via Eventbrite is recommended.
The Newcomers Festival has been a firm institution for years as a way of familiarizing newcomers with the city and its many offerings. Almost 100 exhibitors, including municipal institutions, companies, educational establishments and financial and insurance service providers, offer valuable information on topics such as education, sport, culture, language and leisure. The City of Frankfurt itself will be represented with 16 city stands to provide visitors with important information about services and offers for new residents.
A special highlight this year is the USA as guest country. The US Consulate General Frankfurt will not only be present with its own stand, but will also contribute various program items. The US Consul General Brian Heath expresses his anticipation: "As a 'newcomer', I am particularly pleased to be part of this year's festival and to get to know Frankfurt's diverse population. I look forward to sharing American culture and German-American relations with the many people who call Frankfurt home."
The stage program will feature American acts from 2 pm, including the Schüler Jazz Ensemble, Sugarfoot Swing and the Funky Diplomats from the US Consulate. The cheerleaders from the International School Frankfurt will kick things off.
There will also be plenty on offer for families: A bouncy castle and play equipment from the Riederwald adventure playground will be available on the Römerberg to entertain younger visitors.
Also new this year is the after-festival party in the historic Ratskeller and Römerhöfchen. This "Silent Party" with wireless Bluetooth headphones offers two dance floors: Afro Beats, Amapiano, Reggaeton and Salsa will be played in the Ratskeller, while old-school hip-hop will be played in the chapel. Admission to the party is also free, but places are limited - registration is therefore recommended.
The Newcomers Festival 2024 thus offers an ideal opportunity for all newcomers to get a comprehensive picture of Frankfurt and the region, make new contacts and enjoy culture and entertainment at the same time. Spontaneous visitors are also welcome, the gates of the Römer are open to all. Registered participants will also receive the Newcomers Guide 2024 worth 8 euros as a free gift.
