For several days now, nothing has been working on Bernhard-Grizmek-Allee. Due to repair work required at short notice by Netzdienste Rhein-Main (NRM), the street in the Bornheim district had to be fully closed to car traffic, trams and buses on Monday, October 14. This also affects the tram line 14, bus line 31 and the Ebbel-Ex of the VGF.
From 21. October: 14 to Lokalbahnhof and buses between Ernst-May-Platz and Zoo
The bad news first: The repair work is expected to last more than a month. During this time, the line 14 runs initially only between Gustavsburgplatz and Heilbronner Straße. But there is also good news: From Monday, 21 October, the VGF can then run the line via the Altstadt route to the Lokalbahnhof. At the same time, it has also been possible at short notice to offer a rail replacement service (SEV) with buses every 15 minutes between the Zoo and Ernst-May-Platz from 21 October. Since the VGF was informed of the NRM work only on 9 October in the afternoon, an earlier organization of these service improvements was unfortunately not possible.
For the line 31, the closure means only a minor route change, on the service of the stops, this has no effect.
In addition to the replacement service, various other travel options are available. For example, the zoo is accessible from Konstablerwache with the U6 and U7 lines. The southern part of Grzimek-Allee is accessible from Hanauer Landstraße, where line 11 stops at Zobelstraße. Bornheim is served by the U4 line and by tram line 12. Ernst-May-Platz is served by bus line 38, and the Bornheim Mitte stop is served by bus lines 34, 38, 43, and OF103.
Unusual route for the Ebbel-Ex
The route of the Ebbelwei Express will also be changed: Instead of via Zoo, Hospital zum Heiligen Geist, Hauptbahnhof and Messe, the old-timer will travel via Stresemannallee and Louisa on the weekends of the closure.
Damaged power line
The short-term construction work is not related to the VGF. They are being carried out by NRM on a damaged 110kV power line and are unfortunately unavoidable in timing and length.
