Saying goodbye is sometimes very difficult. When someone leaves, for whom the profession was also a vocation, who has done his job for many years with passion and heart, then resonates with the farewell to the well-deserved retirement also a good portion of melancholy.
Philippe Fort, Maître d'Hôtel at the Grandhotel Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt, is one such person. For 39 years, he was the soul of the Sèvres restaurant at the Hessischer Hof and was appreciated by guests from all over the world as much as by his staff. The Frenchman by birth was a restaurant manager of the old school. The guest should always feel welcome here, which Fort managed perfectly with a mixture of classic etiquette and unmistakable cordiality.
This may also be due to the fact that he simply felt at home here himself. After all, he also met the love of his life at the hotel, Erna, the former housekeeper of the Grand Hotel, whom he married in 1986. Life sometimes writes the most beautiful stories. Philippe Fort now follows his wife into retirement, which she took up in 2015. He has 39 exciting years behind him at the Grandhotel Hessischer Hof. Years in which he has met many prominent personalities, in which the hotel, the city and the people have changed, but in which he has always remained true to his love of his profession.
Now, however, it was time to say goodbye and this was celebrated in a fitting manner - also with hotel guests: On March 24, 25 and 26, chef Roland Füssel and his team created three classic French menus together with Fort, celebrating the Maître d'Hôtel's favourite dishes. He will certainly miss the hotel and its guests - but he will miss them even more. Frankfurt-Tipp.de wishes Philippe Fort and his wife all the best for their retirement together and a wonderful time!
