A look at the weather doesn't exactly give rise to spring fever at the moment. You'd much rather wrap yourself up in a blanket and cozy up on the sofa. But even if the weather is dull and wet, it's worth taking a trip to the Rheingau in the next few days? Why? Because here Until Sunday (07.05.) gourmets meet for the popular "Rheingauer Schlemmerwochen". Enjoying a good glass of wine together and feasting on regional delicacies - even Petrus can't spoil the pleasure!
About 120 businesses from the region, from Flörsheim am Main to Lorch am Rhein, are participating in this popular event, which has been enrapturing visitors' palates for over 30 years. New establishments are also joining the culinary event all the time, which makes for tasty changes year after year. In 2017, the Leitz Winery from Rüdesheim, the TrinksTrinks Winery from Geisenheim, the Hirt-Gebhardts from Eltville, Die Hallgartener Weinkeller e.G., the Prinz von Hessen winery, and the new restaurateurs "Am Niederwald" new on board.
The "Rheingau Gourmet Weeks" don't just inspire with original culinary creations, in which the familiar is not infrequently reinterpreted. Even the good wine is not the actual unique selling point of the festival. It is rather the combination of "what", "with whom" and above all the "where"! Sometimes you have a picnic in the vineyards and enjoy the view of the Rhine valley while having a good time in a convivial atmosphere. In addition, there is a very varied supporting programme, which not only stimulates the taste buds.
