Since 30. December, there are on the railway line between Frankfurt and Friedberg due to a track lowering on the section between Frankfurt-West and Frankfurt-Frankfurter Berg in part severe disruptions in rail traffic. These will probably continue until 1 February. For passengers who have to use this route, this means that until then, long-distance and regional traffic will continue to be diverted in part via Hanau and Fulda. Trains on lines RB40 and RB41 will turn Frankfurt Süd instead of Frankfurt Hbf and trains from the direction of Glauburg-Stockheim (RB34) will end early in Bad Vilbel and turn around there.
Patience is required
The S-Bahns of the line S6 can use the route single-track. The S6 runs at half-hourly intervals along the entire route. Since the S-Bahn trains in the direction of Friedberg must first allow the oncoming trains of the S6 line to pass in Frankfurt-West before the single-track section, there is a ten to twelve minute longer travel time to Friedberg. In addition, it is necessary to carry out regular control measurements on the stabilized railway embankment. For this purpose, the line in the section between Frankfurt-West and Frankfurter Berg has to be closed every day between 1:20 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.. Trains will then be cancelled on the section between Frankfurter Berg and Frankfurt South.
The repair work will take place during the nights. For this purpose, the line between Frankfurter Berg and Frankfurt West will be closed at night from 10:20 p.m. and a rail replacement service with buses will be set up.
Passengers are asked to check the electronic information media at bahn.de or at rmv.de or in the Navigator and Route Agent apps. Deutsche Bahn apologises for any inconvenience caused.
The lowering occurred on the morning of 30 December. An S6 line train derailed at low speed on the section in the early hours of the morning. No one was injured. The train was re-railed and removed on 31 December morning.
