Even though Thursday's storm caused some damage, the team at the Palmengarten managed to present the popular rose exhibition at the opening as if (almost) nothing had happened. Especially the arrangements in the gallery at the Palmenhaus with beds divided into landscapes full of enchanting colour gradients underline the beauty of the rose. No wonder that it appears again and again in art and literature as a symbol of love and beauty. The most popular and elaborate flower show of the year is dedicated to this queen of flowers until Sunday.
With great attention to detail, 5,200 cut roses of 40 different varieties, 1,400 potted roses, as well as quite a few climbing and high-trunk roses have been arranged for the show. It's not just rose lovers who will be thrilled. In addition to the show in the gallery at the Palmenhaus, the big rose and light festival on Saturday is of course the very big highlight of the homage to this beautiful flower. In addition to an extensive program for the whole family, it is always an enchanting experience when the entire Palmengarten is illuminated from nightfall by thousands of tea lights, some arranged into very elaborate pictures.
Another highlight on the three days of the Rose Show are the rose walks with book author Helga Urban and Petra Jung (08.06.: 3 pm; 09.06.: 11 am; 09.06.: 2 pm; 10.06.: 11 am, meeting point is the fountain at the entrance show house). Here, interested rose fans will not only be guided through the rose garden, but will also be given helpful tips for the garden and balcony at home. What more could you want?
Whether it's simply a feast for the eyes or dancing and music at the Festival of Lights, a visit to the Rose Show is not to be missed. Please note the changed admission prices on Saturday (09.06.).
