Successful Frankfurt athletes awarded the Sports Plaque

On Friday, March 15, Mayor of Frankfurt and Head of Sports Mike Josef presented numerous Frankfurt athletes with the Sports Plaque at the Frankfurt Sports Evening. More than 400 successful athletes accepted the award in person in St. Paul's Church. Among them were German champions, European champions, world champions and other top athletes who achieved top international or national rankings in around 40 sports in 2022 and 2023.

Mayor Josef was impressed by the diversity and performance of Frankfurt's sporting landscape: "You not only represent our city all over the world, you will continue to be ambassadors of peace and democracy in Germany and Europe with your sporting successes and the fairness of sport. I would like to congratulate you on your outstanding achievements."

He presented the coveted sports plaques with the support of deputy head of the city council Christoph Rosenbaum, city councillor Ina Hauck, sports district chairman Roland Frischkorn and deputy sports district chairman Dany Kupczik, former dressage rider and organizer of the International Festhalle Riding Tournament Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff and the newly elected president of Eintracht Frankfurt Mathias Beck.

In accordance with the city's honorary regulations, athletes who compete for a Frankfurt gymnastics and sports club and/or are resident in Frankfurt am Main and have been particularly successful in the past two years are honored at the Frankfurt Sports Evening.

Ten volunteers were also honored with the sports plaque for their many years of voluntary work as exercise or youth leaders in clubs and associations for Frankfurt sports, especially in youth and popular sports. Former Eintracht president Peter Fischer also received a special award for his services. The Frankfurt Sports Evening takes place every two years.
