After a year's break, the Osthafen will once again be transformed into a beautiful festival area with great attractions, gastronomy and lots of live music on the weekend of August 11 and 12. Every two years, Frankfurt's port operator, HFM Managementgesellschaft für Hafen und Markt, hosts the big OSTHAFEN FESTIVAL - and it's back in 2018!
For visitors of all ages, there will be a colourful programme on land and in the harbour basin during the day, while in the evening there will be a party in an atmospheric harbour atmosphere with a varied music programme. Four live stages and several club areas provide a multifaceted programme of almost all music styles. Here really everybody gets his money's worth. And now the first highlights of this year's festival can finally be announced:
As the top act in the music program, the organizers were able to win the reggea and hip hop band Culcha Candela. For over 15 years, the Berliners have been a permanent fixture in the charts and tour Europe with their rousing live shows. With around three million records sold, they are one of the most successful bands in their genre. From Frankfurt, among others, the group Gastone will be taking part, which rocks the stages of the Rhine-Main region with its live music in a changing line-up. Other confirmed artists are Tom Gregory, Jonas Monar, Alex im Westerland, Radio Future, Konterfrei, Roadstring Army, Flashback and Staubkind. In total, there will be over 50 acts performing along the harbour basin over the two days of the festival.
Some programme highlights on water and on land have also already been confirmed. On the 1.2-kilometre event area on the north basin of Osthafen 1, harbour tours, ship tours and water sports will be tempting. Young harbour guests can let off steam in the Kids Area with play modules and in the children's disco, among other things, or take a ride with the harbour pirates to make the harbour waters unsafe.
Since 2006, the Port of Frankfurt has been celebrating port festivals with its neighbours and all interested parties from the region, inviting them to find out more about the port and experience it from a new perspective. Whether on a boat trip, during a ride on the historic railway, in the beach area or in front of the harbour stage with a view of containers and sand mountains - the programme offers many exciting perspectives. The number of visitors is growing steadily: on the 2016 festival weekend, over 220,000 guests came in perfect weather. For each Osthafen Festival, the port, together with the event agency Stage Groove Festival GmbH and its partners, puts on new port, music, sports and fun highlights that become an unforgettable experience for the whole family. All this with free admission.
