From 11 to 19. May at the Roßmarkt
Actually, it was supposed to be just a one-time event around the Green Sauce, which Maja Wolff (aka Anton Le Goff) and Torsten Müller had thought up eleven years ago. But when this evening in the Brotfabrik met with enormous enthusiasm from all involved, it became a seven-day festival for the first time in 2009, the finale of which had to be moved to the much larger Frischezentrum for capacity reasons. After this experiment was also a complete success, it was obvious to move the festival to the city centre. With the support of city councillor Markus Frank, the perfect venue was found in the form of the Roßmarkt. In the first years the big success did not come yet. But in the meantime the Grüne Soße Festival has become a permanent fixture in Frankfurt's cultural calendar and the evening events are often completely sold out shortly after the advance ticket sales start. That is also the case this year. Only for May 15, when the wonderful cabaret artist Chin Meyer will lead through the evening, there are still a few remaining tickets. The artist from Berlin, who as a financial cabaret artist and capitalism-understanding Frankfurt his view of the world.
But the festival has long been much more than "just" the evening events. Year after year, the market around the festival tent also attracts thousands of visitors to the Roßmarkt, who meet here for a week of epicurean feasting or cosy get-togethers. And this year, that's exactly what will be particularly exciting, because the Green Sauce will not only present itself very internationally in the competition, but also at the market. In addition to the classic offerings with potatoes, salmon or potato pancakes, you can also try your hand at something more exotic - from oriental to Caribbean, with wraps, falafel, burritos or cr<x>ampersand</x>ecirc;pes. This is culinary proof that green sauce can unite different cultures.
Of course, there will be selected wines, ciders from the festival's wineries and press houses, as well as quite a few other beverages on offer. And on the weekend, the whole thing will be accompanied by live music on the open-air stage. The market is already open from 11 May until 19 May from 11:00 to 20:00 every day!
