The VHS Frankfurt - 4835 courses in 2018

(ffm) Freely following the motto "you never stop learning", the Volkshochschulen (VHS) have been offering countless further and continuing education opportunities throughout Germany for 100 years. Every year, the VHS Frankfurt also puts together a range of courses to suit all tastes - last year there were a total of 4835 courses! Among them, in addition to vocational courses, health courses, cultural education and much more, 1726 language courses alone.

From Arabic to Hungarian, there are currently opportunities to learn 29 foreign languages here. In addition, the topic of health is high on the agenda. Whether back school, Pilates or water gymnastics: the demand in terms of physical fitness is huge. In the digital age, proficient use of media is also important for every age group. Anyone who wants to brush up on their Instagram skills or find their way around the jungle of social media better is guaranteed to find the right continuing education course at the VHS.

The nerve of the time, current trends and topics are equally present beyond the media world. Thus the environmentally conscious course on "plastic fasting" was fully booked within a very short time and the offer on communal living was also very well received. "Fully booked" at the VHS does not mean waiting times of more than half a year. Depending on the response, courses are offered all year round. At the end of courses, 258 examinations were taken, for example naturalisation tests, Cambridge English, the Social Media Manager or the certificate examination Financial Accounting.

In 2018, just under 1,000 teachers were on duty to teach the material at Frankfurt's five VHS centres, as well as at many other locations spread across the city. The price of a course depends on several factors: Not only the course duration or type, but for some courses also the number of participants determine the cost for those eager to know and learn.

The VHS, by the way, is committed to education policy beyond the advertised offers. This includes, among other things, a twelve-year continuous teaching activity in the juvenile correctional institution JVA IV Frankfurt. In six modules à five weeks each, ten people can be trained in the professional use of the most popular EDP applications, which greatly facilitates their later access to the job market.

As things stand, there are 3217 courses to choose from for the first half of this year. If you want to get an overview of the complete range of courses on offer, it is best to use the search function on the VHS website at <link https: vhs.frankfurt.de de _blank>Https://vhs.frankfurt.de/de/ on the Internet.
