Together for Frankfurt's station district: First large-scale networking meeting of offices and departments

To further improve the situation in the Bahnhofsviertel, the city of Frankfurt has again strengthened cooperation between its offices and departments. For the first time, there was a comprehensive networking meeting on Wednesday, June 14, of city employees who come into contact with the neighborhood - from city councilors to clerks. "We need to pull together even more as a city and not let internal responsibilities get in each other's way. In the past, this has too often cost us valuable time," explained Social Affairs Department head Elke Voitl, Health Department head Stefan Majer and Public Order Department head Annette Rinn together.

The cooperation between the offices and departments is unique in this form in Hesse's largest city and is another building block of the joint work in the station district. "We are testing the close and cross-hierarchical shoulder-to-shoulder cooperation here in order to bundle existing knowledge and to be able to act more quickly in the future. Anyone who is always looking for the one big solution has not understood the problem of the Bahnhofsviertel," Voitl said after the meeting.

"With more than 50 participants from various offices, departments and municipal companies, the workshop has given our municipal network on the Bahnhofsviertel a further boost. It is great to see how committed employees from the administration are to an overarching topic and work together on improvements for the Bahnhofsviertel," said Majer. "There are very different factual and problem situations in the Bahnhofsviertel. We need uncomplicated and unbureaucratic cooperation between all offices, committees and working groups in order to achieve sustainable improvements," said Rinn.

The meeting was organized by the new Bahnhofsviertel coordination office. This is attached to the social department and was launched together with the health and security departments. The office is also in regular contact with other departments. The three employees of the office primarily analyze the situation on site, act as municipal contact persons and pass on concerns, ideas, needs for change or tips to the responsible departments and work out solutions together with the specialist expertise in the departments. In addition, they network the actors in the neighborhood and initiate new processes. Just recently, they have brought the bundling of private food distribution on the way.
