(em) Numerous demonstrations have been registered in the Frankfurt city area for the coming weekend (14-15 September 2019). In this context, there will be at times significant disruptions in road traffic as well as public transport.
On Saturday, it is assumed that there will be around 20,000 and on Sunday, several hundred assembly participants. The Frankfurt police will accompany these registered assemblies or processions to ensure freedom of assembly and to implement the appropriate traffic measures.
In the inner city area there will be numerous restrictions on road traffic over the weekend. It will be possible to travel to the exhibition grounds by public transport and by car via the Rebstock site.
Restrictions can already be expected in the following area on Friday, 13 September 2019:
- from approx. 10.00: Theodor-Heuss-Allee and Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage, closure of the left lane, into the city
On Saturday, 14 September 2019, there will be restrictions and closures in road traffic throughout the entire city area due to various meetings or processions. In particular, the following areas will be affected:
- From 06.00 in the morning, the Senckenberganlage, the Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage as well as the Theodor-Heuss-Allee (from Varrentrappstraße) will be closed in both directions until evening.
Early in the morning, exit from these areas will still be possible, but entry will not be allowed.
- Around 1:30 p.m., a section of a bicycle star ride will gather in the area of Ostparkstraße and from there will ride along the Alleen-Ring through the city area to the fairgrounds to arrive around
2.30 clock in the Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage to participate in a final rally.
- Around 13.45 clock, another section of a bicycle star ride will arrive in the area of Nibelungenallee, to then also ride in the direction of the fair and participate in the final rally in the area of Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage.
- For a short time, sections of the highways (A648, A661) as well as the B40 will also be closed due to the bicycle parade around Frankfurt.
- Around 12.00 o'clock a procession of the organization "NaturFreunde Deutschlands" will lead from the Hauptwache through the city center area to the fair, in order to participate there afterwards likewise starting from 14.30 clock to participate in the final rally.
- On this day, there will be restrictions in public transport near the fair above ground. However, the underground trams will be running as usual to the "Festhalle/Messe" stop. For more information, please visit the website of the rmv as well as the VGF.
On Sunday, September 15, 2019, there will be temporary restrictions on road traffic in the vicinity of the trade fair. Affected are the Platz der Einheit, the Straße der Nationen as well as the Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage. The Emser Bridge will be closed all day.
There may be repeated short-term road closures over the course of the weekend due to gatherings and processions in the city area.
For this reason, the Frankfurt police advise the city center, especially the aforementioned streets, on the aforementioned days to widely bypass or, or, if possible, to use public transport. There will be restrictions on local public transport, especially above ground, which will result in timetable deviations. Road users arriving from the surrounding motorways are advised to follow the signs on the motorways. In this context, reference is made to the internet portals of Mainziel (www.mainziel.de), the rmv (www.rmv.de) as well as the VGF (www.vgf-ffm.de). In addition, the app "Katwarn" is notified of corresponding traffic disruptions in downtown Frankfurt.
