At the end of September 2020, we told you about the closure of the Grandhotel "Hessischer Hof". With the hotel at the trade fair, Frankfurt has not only lost a prestigious object. It also meant the end for "Jimmy`s Bar" in the hotel, which is popular far beyond the city limits. The old-fashioned, but not outdated look with leather armchairs and wood-paneled walls attracted not only hotel guests, trade fair visitors or people from the city. Many a celebrity could also be seen here. James Blunt, for example, sat at the piano, bands such as the Rolling Stones or AC/DC ended the evening here after their concerts in the Festhalle, and political greats such as Helmut Schmidt and Bill Clinton were also guests in the bar. There's no question about it: with "Jimmy`s Bar", Frankfurt had lost a real institution two years ago. But now there is good news:
Because as reported, among others, the magazine Falstaff, a return of the grand hotel is now announced. The previous owner, Donatus Landgraf von Hessen, has found a buyer in the form of European investment firm Peakside Capital, which plans to reopen the hotel, and with it the bar, after an extensive renovation. But there is even better news: "Jimmy`s Bar" is already open again. Until the announced renovation, the Gekko Group, which among other things operates the Roomers in Frankfurt (which will soon get an attractive addition with the Roomers Parkview), will temporarily operate the legendary bar. Micky Rosen and Alex Urseanu from the Gekko Group will breathe new life into the place with immediate effect - initially for six months. An extension is not excluded, however.
So you can now finally enjoy drinks again - conjured up by the first-class bartender Gabriel Daun - in a dignified atmosphere and experience the special flair of this so popular bar. Open is "Jimmy`s Bar" at present always Tuesday to Saturday, in each case from 18 to 02 o'clock.
