One day before the release in the media library, the film crew of the new ZDFneo vampire series, led by the main actors Damian Hardung and Havana Joy, gathered on the red carpet at Frankfurt's Gibson Club on Thursday evening to celebrate the premiere. Numerous invited guests were in attendance. In addition to many fans who wanted to see Damian Hardung, influencers such as "Capitano Maurice", "MarcelXWilhem", Jovana Jovic and "Unterwegs mit Julia" were also present. City Councillor and Head of Economic Affairs Stephanie Wüst welcomed the guests on behalf of the city at the ceremony in the banking metropolis.
Mystical, seductive and tragic - that's the new eight-part vampire series "Love Sucks", which will be shown on ZDFneo from Friday, October 11, 2024. With a modern adaptation of the classic Romeo and Juliet theme, ZDF transports viewers into the eerie love story between the vampire Ben (played by Damian Hardung) and the mortal Zelda (played by Havana Joy), which takes place in the banking metropolis of Frankfurt.
Love, darkness and suspense in the heart of Frankfurt
The series combines elements of romance, mysticism and familial conflict against the urban backdrop of Frankfurt. Filming took place at prominent locations in the city such as the Frankfurt Dippemess and the 25th floor of the DB high-rise, which offers a breathtaking view of the skyline. Important scenes were also shot in the nearby town of Hochheim, known for its historic funfair. The "Boxbude", a central location of the plot, is located on the Hochheim market.
Director Lea Becker and Andreas Prochaska have managed to weave the urban life of Frankfurt into an atmospherically dense narrative. Frank Zervos, chief editor at ZDF, expressed his enthusiasm: "The idea of setting a vampire series at a fairground in the middle of the modern banking metropolis immediately captivated us. This contrast between vibrant Frankfurt and the romantic, almost timeless love story is what makes 'Love Sucks' so special."
Star cast and strong production
In addition to the main actors Damian Hardung and Havana Joy, well-known faces such as Rick Okon ("Das Boot"), Anne Ratte-Polle and Stipe Erceg can also be seen. With a top-class cast and a gripping production, the series promises to captivate viewers.
