Anniversary will be celebrated on 7 July with a vehicle parade.
There is a reason to celebrate at "BB Ost", the VGF's East depot. It was opened on 06 July 2003 and celebrates its 15th birthday this weekend - and you can join in the celebrations. In the 15 years that the depot has been in operation, a lot has happened in the field of underground trains and trams in Frankfurt: In 2003, the year it was opened, the first low-floor trams of the "S" type were put into service, followed by the 5th generation of underground trains, the "U5" type, from 2008 onwards. Both were supplied by the manufacturer Bombardier Transportation. Older series such as "U2", "U3" or "Ptb" disappeared from regular service and are now only in service as historic trains. A few days ago, the VGF signed a contract with the company Alstom for the delivery of new trams, the "T" cars, which will be delivered from 2020.
The new building replaced the old and smaller depots and workshops in Eckenheim, Sachsenhausen and Bornheim in 2003. More than 150 rail vehicles - subways and trams - have since been maintained "in Ost", parked during breaks in service and deployed from here on the U4, U5, U6, U7, 11, 12 and 18 lines.
For the celebration, which HSF is hosting in cooperation with VGF, there will be a public shuttle with a historic, non-barrier-free "Pt" tram that will take interested visitors to the venue at 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. from the "Zoo" tram stop.
At Betriebshof Ost, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the workshop as well as photograph a parade of several tram and subway trains bearing full advertising with a Frankfurt sister city.
Please note: Participation in the festival and riding the shuttle train are free of charge, but only after prior online registration with the Museum Association at <link http: www.hsf-ffm.de veranstaltungen _blank>www.hsf-ffm.de/events possible.
