Due to the strike by aviation security staff, Frankfurt Airport will be completely closed to departing passengers on Thursday. The canceled checks will make it impossible for passengers to enter the airport from the landside, according to a spokesperson for Fraport, the airport operator. Passengers are urged to contact their airlines and not to come to the airport under any circumstances. The impact on the flight schedule is still unclear, as at least landings will continue to take place and passengers will be able to change flights.
The strike called by Verdi only affects security checks in Frankfurt and is parallel to the planned strike by Lufthansa ground staff. The warning strike by Lufthansa ground staff will begin on Wednesday evening and continue until 7:10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Passenger flights are mainly affected on Thursday and Friday.
