Frankfurt's fools started the new year on Sunday, January 20, with a big Helau: Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann received the prince and princess, children's prince and princess, club delegations and the honorary senate of the Great Council at the New Year's reception for the carnival clubs in the Römer. Beforehand, there was the traditional carriage ride from Stoltze Square to the Römer. Feldmann drove together with Prince Pascal I. and Princess Selina I. as well as the Children's Prince and Princess Jannis I. and Finja I. to the Römerberg. In the town hall Feldmann awarded the order "Golden Frankfurt Eagle" to particularly deserving carnivalists.

"As colorful as the picture here today, so colorful is the history of our city as an axis of cheerfulness," Feldmann noted. "From the South German carnival hustle and bustle in Aschaffenburg to the Mainz Fassenacht and the carnival in Cologne, all facets can be found in Frankfurt! Fasching, Fastnacht, Karneval - we Frankfurters have chosen the best of everything. And that's exactly what our Fassenacht does well!"

Feldmann thanked the Grand Council and its president Axel Heilmann for their tireless efforts for the Frankfurt Carnival. An equally big thank you went to FES managing directors Benjamin Scheffler, Dirk Remmert and Michael Weil - Frankfurter Entsorgungsbetriebe are providing the Prince's House for this year's campaign.
The "Golden Frankfurt Eagle" has been awarded since 1974 - at that time on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Grand Council. Since 1980, the Lord Mayor takes over the presentation of the award during a New Year's reception in the Römer
