Association of renowned Frankfurt restaurateurs
Initiative unique in the region<x>.N</x>Commitment to guests and to the economy of the city
The restaurateurs are the hosts of our city. With the diversity of their offer, they not only make a cultural contribution, but are above all of great importance for the economy in Frankfurt am Main. With this conviction, Frankfurt's hosts have now founded the Gastronomie Frankfurt e.V. initiative. The association aims to represent and strengthen the interests of restaurateurs and the position of the hospitality industry in Frankfurt. "This should benefit both the well-being of the guests and the external image of the city," says chairman Madjid Djamegari. He forms the board of the new association together with James Ardinast of Chez IMA.
Frankfurt has a high density of restaurants, with just under one for every 1,000 residents. Like the city itself, the gastronomy scene in Frankfurt is cosmopolitan and multicultural, the culinary offerings during the day, evening and night diverse and characterized by the creativity of the operators. This is well received: In a survey of visitors to Frankfurt conducted by the Cologne Institute for Retail Research (IFH) in 2014, 61.8 percent of all respondents rated the range of restaurants in Frankfurt's city center as good to very good. At the same time, according to the IFH, the attractive gastronomy scene made a significant contribution to revitalizing the shopping areas after hours. What's more, Frankfurt guests spend around a quarter of their money in the local gastronomy (Deutsches Wirtschaftswissenschaftliches Institut für Fremdenverkehr e.V.).
In the future, Frankfurt's restaurateurs should be strengthened even more. "We are an important economic factor," notes James Ardinast. "Our initiative wants to bring the concerns of the gastronomy industry even more into the perceptual focus of the city, authorities, politics, business and other interest groups. We want to cooperate more with these institutions and thus facilitate a better exchange of information." Overall, the initiative wants to contribute to an improved and positive public perception of the gastronomy scene and in this sense make the trade more attractive, fairer and safer for national and international guests as well as employees. To do this, the initiative advocates for mandatory standards in the restaurant industry, promotes integration and training opportunities, and aims to stand up against substance abuse, racism and discrimination through events and campaigns, among other things.
More than 20 establishments and their restaurateurs have already joined the association, including Matthias Martinsohn - Destino Tapas Bar, Goran Petreski - VaiVai, Christian Daam and Sascha Euler - naïv, Henry Walon - SUGAR, Klaus Knopp - Ginkgo, Hechem Matz - Bar ohne Namen, Peyman Far - Landwehrstübchen, Yared Hagos - The Parlour and the managing directors of Mancini, Maxie Eisen, Morleos, Tafelspitz & Sons, Stanley Diamond, GIBSON Club, Fleischeslust and Pearly Gates as well as Julian Smith's Men of Taste GmbH, the operator of Chinaski and Schmitz Fine Food. Interested restaurateurs can download a membership form from the initiative's homepage, <link http: www.initiative-gastronomie.de _blank>www.initiative-gastronomie.de.
