The destination of this year's archaeological foray is Tunisia, the Roman province of Africa Proconsularis with its urban metropolis of Carthage. After its destruction by Rome, it rose as a new Roman foundation, developing into the granary of Rome and supplying the finest olive oil to all regions of the Empire.
The evening will begin with an aperitif reception and a brief introduction to the history of the Saalburg.
After a picture presentation on the theme: "Cities in the Desert - Roman Tunisia", guests will enjoy a multi-course buffet with specialities from Tunisian cuisine.
