(kus) For the eleventh time, the Höchster Designparcours will take place on the 1st Advent weekend, December 2 and 3. More than 70 fashion designers, artists, jewellery makers, graphic designers and photographers will use empty rooms in Frankfurt's western district and transform it into a colourful creative fair. The event takes place parallel to the Höchster Christmas market of associations.
Ursula Brünner, head of the Urban Renewal and Housing Department at the City Planning Office, will open the trail Saturday, 12:00 p.m. at Hostatostrasse 4 together with Oliver Schwebel, managing director of Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt and Jakob Sturm of Radar, the city's vacancy agency.
In the largest design parcours to date, 19 locations in Höchst's city centre will be played host to. Many labels are always happy to take part in the Designparcours, but about a third of the creatives are also new faces. They sell handmade unique pieces and individual Christmas gifts.
Visitors can win something again this year and secure a shopping voucher worth 50 euros, redeemable at the exhibitors on site. All they have to do is have their participant card stamped at ten stations on the course.
There will once again be a supporting programme to accompany the parcours. In Kranengasse 2 at the Ateliergemeinschaft Formwerke, visitors young and old can create and personalize magnetic key boards on Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m., in the MUSA children's studio at Emmerich-Josef-Strasse 33, children will be creatively painting on Saturday and Sunday, 12 to 6 p.m., and at höchst*schön at Leunastrasse 34, visitors can print a motif as in Gutenberg's day. The exhibition opening of the "10th Petersburger Hängung" with over 60 participating artists and their design products at Bolongarostraße 112 at Westkunst Nied should also be interesting. The vernissage is on Saturday from 6pm.
The course is supported by the urban planning office, the business development Frankfurt and the vacancy agency Radar. The implementation is supported by the NH ProjektStadt. In order to promote the attractiveness of the city's districts, the Economic Development Department continuously supports projects that help to re-let vacant retail properties. It advises owners on marketing their stores and provides contacts to potential tenants.
The organizers hope for a further and sustainable revitalization of the district and the commercial areas. The success of previous creative fairs has long been evident. Eight artist labels plus the studio community Formwerke have already settled permanently in downtown Höchst.
