All information about Open Viertel 2024

Shortly before the start of the Hessian summer vacations, Stephanie Wüst, Head of Economic Affairs, and the business association Treffpunkt Bahnhofsviertel have jointly presented the program for Open Viertel 2024, the Bahnhofsviertel Day. After its premiere last year, it will be held again on Saturday, August 31.

The Bahnhofsviertel is probably the most diverse district in the city. It is home to around 23,000 jobs and 3500 people. Even though many a negative headline has appeared in recent months, the measures adopted by city politicians to revitalize, secure and strengthen the area are already having a positive impact and will continue to do so after the end of UEFA Euro 2024.

"I am delighted that we are now celebrating the Bahnhofsviertel Open Viertel Day for the second time. Open Viertel emerged from the heart of the district and is aimed at everyone who loves Frankfurt and its Bahnhofsviertel and wants to explore it. This day offers the opportunity to get to know the many institutions and associations and their work, but also to enjoy the cultural and gastronomic diversity with all your senses. In addition to the political measures, Open Viertel is a further revitalization of the district and the business association Treffpunkt Bahnhofsviertel is an indispensable partner," emphasizes Wüst.

Michael Weber, head of the local council 1, is pleased that Open Viertel gives everyone the opportunity to get to know the positive, creative and beautiful sides of the Bahnhofviertel - and there are more of them than many people think.

In addition to numerous initiatives, social institutions and associations that open their doors wide, there will once again be many activities by local businesses, including free dance taster courses, gallery tours or free tastings and live acts to ensure an eventful day in the Bahnhofsviertel. The five stages on the squares in the district expand the offer and also ensure an exuberant atmosphere and the right sound.

Nazim Alemdar, chairman of the trade association and owner of Yok Yok Kiosk, says: "I am particularly pleased that Open Viertel has already established itself as the central event in the station district in its second year. As chairman of the trade association, I would like to thank all participants, the team and also the city of Frankfurt for the fact that Open Viertel is alive!""

"The Bahnhofsviertel is the district with the greatest potential in Frankfurt," enthuses James Ardinast, restaurateur and co-founder of the Frankfurt Gastronomy Initiative.

Due to its redesign, the square at Kaisertor will also become a central platform for action this year. Since mid-June, two food containers and a green oasis have already been inviting people to linger here. "With Open Viertel, the station district is opening up to the whole city. Life is pulsating here in all areas and everyone is invited to join in the celebrations. With our program at the Kaisertor, the newly designed gateway to the city, we look forward to welcoming visitors and bidding them farewell after a wonderful day", says Marc Franz from the trade association, who is responsible for the presentation of the Kaisertor. Hannah Schwiegelhofer-Raczuhn, who curates the François-Mitterand-Patz at the Open Viertel, adds: "A district only comes to life through the people who shape it with their ideas and actions."

In addition to the great commitment from the district, the Bahnhofsvierteltag is financially supported by the City Marketing department. "We are delighted to be able to contribute to the revitalization and image promotion of the district again this year together with the trade association. Only together with all motivated stakeholders can sustainable change be achieved. Open Viertel is a platform to consciously perceive the Bahnhofsviertel in a new way," says Eduard M. Singer, Head of City Marketing.

The entire Open Viertel 2024 program and further information will be available online at viertel.app from Thursday, 1 August.
