This year, the Rheingau Wine Week will be celebrated from August 9 to 18. For the 47th time, wineries will be offering their wines and sparkling wines for tasting and numerous food stalls will be providing refreshments. "The unique selling point of the Rheingau Wine Week is the special atmosphere on the squares between the town hall, market church and castle, in addition to the diverse and local range of wines on offer from the winegrowers. The people of Wiesbaden, as well as many visitors, look forward to the joie de vivre, lightness and hospitality that this festival radiates," says Wiesbaden's mayor Christiane Hinninger.
The sustainable approach to the food on offer at the Wine Week serves to protect the climate: "Plastic crockery and cutlery will be dispensed with and there will once again be a reusable bottle deposit of 3 euros," says Environment Officer and Mayor Hinninger: "The official wine glass of the wine week is produced in a more environmentally friendly way, made from lighter glass, which means we have saved the environment 315 kilograms of Co2." The glass can be purchased for three euros at Wiesbaden Tourist Information and at eight selected stands at the Wine Week. It is decorated with a motif from the recently opened Reinhard Ernst Museum. For environmentally friendly travel to and from the event by bus and train, there will once again be a wine festival event ticket subsidized by the Department of Economics. This is not only particularly inexpensive, but can also be used as a voucher for wine tasting at selected winegrowers.
Simon Rottloff, authorized signatory of Wiesbadener Congress und Marketing GmbH (WICM) and responsible for the outdoor events, points out the special website: "At www.wiesbaden.de/weinwoche you will find a stand plan, an interactive stand overview and brief portraits of the winegrowers and their wineries. Impressions of the Rheingau Wine Week can be shared on Instagram under the hashtag #rieslingsfreunde".
The official opening of the 47th Rheingau Wine Week with its 117 stands will take place on Friday, August 9, at 5 pm on the stage in front of Wiesbaden's town hall. Wiesbaden's Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and Mayoress Christiane Hinninger will give the starting signal in the presence of the Rheingau and Wiesbaden wine majesties. A total of 50 bands will provide the perfect musical backdrop on the three stages in front of the town hall, the Marktkirche and on the Dern'schen grounds. The musical performances, including band classics such as "Krüger Rockt" and "Los 4 del Son", will end at 10 p.m. on all ten days of the event.
The Protestant family education program in the Wiesbaden deanery offers childcare for children aged five to eleven on both weekends of the Wine Week. On Saturdays, the little ones are offered entertainment from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Haus der Marktkirche (costs five euros per hour, siblings 2.50 euros), on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thanks to the support of Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH, the painting, craft and play activities are free of charge on Sundays. Just drop by - children will be accepted as long as there are places available. A guarded bicycle checkroom will also be set up again at the rear exit of the Marktkirche.
