City bells on the radio again at Easter

01.04.2021 | 11:13 Clock | Citywhispers
City bells on the radio again at Easter

After its premiere at Christmas, the Great City Ringing will once again be heard on Radio Frankfurt on Holy Saturday. In the future, the concert of the bells of Frankfurt's city centre churches will not only be heard live on site, but can also be followed from the comfort of your own home: "In addition to the sound experience in our city centre, the Great City Chimes will also be heard on Radio Frankfurt in the future, and can thus reach even more fans and gain new ones," says Mayor and Head of the Church Department Uwe Becker. "The cooperation is a great benefit for the city. I am sure that the Great City Ringing will now reach many Frankfurt residents who have not heard it before."

While the Great City Ringing can finally be heard directly in the city centre again on Holy Saturday for the first time in ten months, it will be broadcast exclusively on Radio Frankfurt from 4.30pm on FM 95.1, DAB+ or via livestream. Becker and Stephan Schwenk, Managing Director at Radio Frankfurt are joining forces to make this special and unique sound experience a regular radio event. "For many Frankfurt residents, the Great City Ringing before the holidays is a cherished ritual, so we at Radio Frankfurt are delighted to make the Sound of Frankfurt audible to all fans via our channels," says Schwenk.

"The bells of the inner city churches ring in the upcoming Easter and remind us of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead after his crucifixion and thus of the victory of life over death. This year, however, the bells are also intended to be an additional sign of hope and confidence," says the mayor and head of the church. "For those Frankfurt residents who, for reasons of their own, do not wish to make the journey to the city centre, Radio Frankfurt offers the perfect alternative. Even though these are recordings, nevertheless the Great City Ringing can create a special sense of "we" when we all experience it together on the radio," adds Becker, adding, "Those who would like to have the City Ringing ring out all year round can register at http://www.frankfurt.de/stadtgelaeut also download the matching ringtone for his mobile."
