The swimming season at Hausen outdoor pool will be extended again this winter: the air dome enables swimming in weatherproof conditions. From 26 October, the air dome at Hausener Bad will open its doors for winter operation and, with its 56 meters width, 50 meters length and 15 meters height, offers an extraordinary solution to bridge the indoor pool bottlenecks in Frankfurt.
The new hall will be open Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 10 pm and on weekends and public holidays from 6:30 am to 6 pm. It will create additional capacity for swimming lessons and club sports, making an important contribution to the city's public services. "This water area is particularly important for school and club swimming and enables a large number of additional swimming courses to be offered," explained Boris Zielinski, Managing Director of Bäderbetriebe Frankfurt (BBF).
The air dome, which is made of a durable plastic film and remains stable thanks to constant air pressure, holds an impressive 25,000 cubic meters of air. It serves as a replacement for the lost water areas of the Rebstockbad, which is currently being rebuilt. A total of 15 swimming clubs and 40 schools will share the hall in future.
