Gibson Beach Club comes to Frankfurt city centre with padel tennis, food court and winter market

The Gibson Beach Club, the summer extension of the renowned Gibson Club, is celebrating its comeback at a new address in May. After two years at Opernplatz, the popular location is moving to Frankfurt's banking district. At Mainzer Landstrasse 23, between Deutsche Bank and Platz der Republik, the site covers around 6,800 square metres - an area that is earmarked for the construction of the "Canyon" office building from 2026. Until then, a wide range of leisure facilities will be created there.

Focus on sports and events

Bastian Bernhagen, Managing Partner of the Gibson Club, has secured the space for 18 months and is planning a concept that goes far beyond a traditional beach bar. In addition to sand, deckchairs and cocktails, an extensive sports programme will be created. "We want to offer a space that combines sport and recreation, thus closing a gap in the city centre," explains Bernhagen. Plans include padel tennis courts that are accessible to everyone. You can register on site or via the "Playtomic" app, and use is possible from 20 euros per hour.

In winter, the site is transformed into an ice landscape with a Christmas market and a large ice skating rink. "This appeals to a broad target group: from school classes and families to companies that can book the area for events," Bernhagen continues.

Gastronomy with regional partners

The Beach Club is also setting new culinary trends. A food court with local restaurants offers a selection of vegan dishes, fresh salads and Mexican specialities. The partners include Plants & Cakes, Heidi and Paul and Social Mexicano.

Successful interim use

The concept also impressed the British investment manager Tite Street Capital, which is responsible for the development of the future office building. "The combination of experience, professionalism and consideration of the interests of the neighbourhood convinced us", explains Guido Lang, Chief Investment Officer of the company. The concept also helps to increase the attractiveness of the location.

The beach club is open from 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 3 p.m. on weekends and public holidays. Admission remains free on weekdays, but charges may apply for special events and at weekends. Companies have the option of hiring the venue for events, and a combination with the Gibson Club is also possible. Enquiries can be made at beach@gibson-club.de.
