(kus) No sooner has the renovation work in Grüneburgpark been completed than construction work starts right next door in the Nordend: the basic renovation of Holzhausenpark will begin in the coming weeks.
Prior to the actual construction work, the area must be examined for possible unexploded ordnance or other explosive ordnance. This will be followed by an overhaul of the popular but aging park in several sections. This will ensure that the green space remains accessible during the construction work.
The focus in Holzhausen Park is also on renewing the paths, which are used intensively and are therefore heavily worn. The play areas of the park are being rearranged and getting new play equipment for different age groups. The children's officer is closely involved in this.
New shrubs and trees will be added to the planting areas and the lawn in the north will be reseeded. The construction measures in the historic Holzhausen Park are taking place in close coordination with the Frankfurt Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments and the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments in Wiesbaden. Special emphasis is being placed on protecting the old tree population.
The work is expected to last until May 2018. During the construction period, a display box will be located near the Cafés to inform citizens about the measures and the individual sections.
For the temporary closures of the play areas and paths, the Parks Department asks for understanding and mutual consideration
