Digital Lending in Lockdown - Free Access to OnleiheVerbundHessen

Digital Lending in Lockdown - Free Access to OnleiheVerbundHessen

Luckily, with all the negative effects of the lockdown on our cultural and social lives, there are always offerings that make the necessary staying home a little easier. The Frankfurt Public Library and the Hessian Libraries are offering such a deal: From Wednesday, January 13, until Sunday, February 28, the Onleihe can again be used free of charge.

The offer applies to all with a residence in Hesse. Who has interest, registers simply with the OnleiheVerbundHessen. Already a large digital offer can be accessed: Novels and current non-fiction, audiobooks for young and old, eLearning courses for individual further education, student-relevant literature, magazines and much more can be found in the Onleihe.

The libraries thus make a meaningful contribution to curbing the incidence of infection and protecting health. At the same time, they are also fulfilling their cultural-political educational mandate in the lockdown: The high-quality digital offer of the Onleihe is a supplement and alternative to the library visit. The free use enables all interested to get to know and try out the offers.

In this Hesse-wide solution, as in the first Lockdown, the support of the Hessian Specialist Office for Public Libraries and the Rheingau-Taunus district can be relied on. Once again, District Administrator Frank Kilian opens the innovative registration solution developed in his district unbureaucratically for all libraries in the OnleiheVerbundHessen.

The offer is free and valid from January 13 to February 28. After that, the access expires automatically, follow-up costs do not apply.

Interested register with the OnleiheVerbundHessen at https://hessen.onleiheverbundhessen.de. There you will also find all further information. Those who would like to continue borrowing in analogue form from the Frankfurt Public Library can (pre-)order media in the libraries from 18 January and borrow them by appointment. For spontaneous visits, the libraries will remain closed until probably the end of January.
