Initiative Gastronomie Frankfurt e. V. starts application phase for Gastro Trend Awards 2023

It's a small anniversary: For the fifth time, the Initiative Gastronomie Frankfurt e. V. (IGF) announces the Gastro Trend Awards, an award for creative and dedicated talent from Hesse. Are looked for the cook talent, the Pâtisserie talent, the bar talent as well as the Newcomer Gastro concept of the year.

Interested new generation talents can apply up to 31 August. The award ceremony with about 250 guests will take place on November 6 in the Gesellschaftshaus in the Palmengarten. "Against the backdrop of a massive shortage of skilled workers, it is more urgent than ever to promote young talent and clearly signal that good ideas and up-and-coming stars will be recognized and celebrated," says Madjid Djamegari, Chairman of the IGF Board of Directors. The event is supported by the communication and event agency WAOH, the Genussakademie Frankfurt, the economic department of the city of Frankfurt am Main and the DEHOGA Hessen.

"The presentation of the Gastro Trend Awards is intended to make visible that there is an enormous amount of potential in the Hessian gastronomy scene - and that this potential is also appreciated. We show how attractive it can be to enter this professional field," explains James Ardinast, on the board of the IGF and jury member of this year's Gastro Trend Awards. JanPeter Eichhorn, managing director of the Genussakademie, adds, "The competition also always offers the young talents the opportunity to meet important personalities and connoisseurs in the industry, to network and to be put in the spotlight." The task: two courses or a dessert Young chefs, pâtissiers and pâtissières, bartenders from the Rhine-Main region are invited to take part in the competition. The motto: "Crazy - creative - courageous". Anyone wishing to take part in the competition must have completed training as a chef, cook, pâtissier, pâtissiere or pastry chef and must not be older than 29 at the time of the competition. To apply for the title of Chef Talent 2023, young chefs must propose two dishes. The jury will then decide who will enter the final with one course. Applicants for the Pâtissier Talent 2023 create a freestyle dessert for the application.

From all submitted applications, a jury will select the finalists on October 16, whose dishes will be served to 250 guests at a four-course meal on the final evening. However, the winner of the Patisserie Talent and the Bar Talent will be chosen by the jury in advance and announced at the event. Jury members include Ricky Saward, Chef Talent 2017 and chef at Frankfurt's Michelin-starred restaurant Seven Swans, James Ardinast, board member of IGF, and Andrea Lördemann, board member of Frankfurter Hotel Alliance.

Applications are open until the end of August. Deadline for applications is Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Applicants mail their proposals for the two dishes or the proposal for the dessert, respectively, together with a short CV, contact details and date of birth to kochtalent@mmg.de.
