Low-cost airline PLAY from December 2023 in Frankfurt

PLAY Airlines expands its commitment in Germany: new low-cost flights from Frankfurt to Iceland and on to five destinations in North America from December Reykjavík/Frankfurt

The airline PLAY Airlines from Iceland continues its expansion course and will fly to another German airport from December 14, 2023: our Frankfurt. Under the motto "Pay less, PLAY more", the young low-cost airline will expand its flight schedule to include Frankfurt, allowing us to benefit from the new opportunities as well. Starting next winter, travel-loving Hessians will have the opportunity to take off four times a week, always on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, to the popular destinations of Iceland and North America.

With this expansion of its route network, PLAY Airlines continues to consolidate the German market as an important location. The airline has already been offering year-round flights from Berlin since June 2021, followed by its first flight from Hamburg in May of this year, and Düsseldorf has also been part of its international schedule since June. In its young fleet of ten Airbus A320 Neo family jets, PLAY Airlines enables adventurous travelers flying into Keflavík Airport near Reykjavík to explore Iceland as well as take further trips to New York, Boston, Washington DC, Baltimore and Toronto in Canada. The airline, which has been named "Best Low-Cost Airline in Northern Europe" by Skytrax, offers uncomplicated long-haul travel to the North of America at fair fares throughout the year and has already had 604.670 satisfied passengers to their destinations.

PLAY's CEO, Birgir Jónsson, describes the next logical step in its expansion as follows: "Frankfurt has been on our wish list for a long time: With flight operations at one of Europe's largest airports, completely new opportunities open up for our guests and also for us. Our passengers have a central point of contact for international flights and benefit from excellent connecting flights to the USA and Canada, which of course also benefits business travelers from Frankfurt and the surrounding area. For us, the opening at this location means above all sustainable growth. It is a great continuation of the past months of success - and we will continue on this course."
