Relaxed travel to the Museumsuferfest by bus and train: more journeys, more space, some restrictions

Frankfurt is celebrating the Museumsuferfest from 23 to 25 August.

The Museumsuferfest in Frankfurt am Main attracts thousands of visitors every year and stretches along the River Main. The location of the festival is ideally connected to the public transport network. The best places to get to include the Schweizer Platz, Schweizer-/Gartenstraße, Otto-Hahn-Platz, Stresemannallee/Gartenstraße, Willy-Brandt-Platz, Hauptwache and Konstablerwache stations. The festival is even within walking distance of the main railway station.

Increased public transport services for the Museumsuferfest

In order to cope with the rush of visitors, RMV is expanding its public transport services on all three days of the festival. In addition to more frequent services until late at night, longer trains and buses will also provide more capacity. Those who want to party into the early hours of the morning will benefit from continuous night services on many lines.

There are still some restrictions: due to the closure of Textorstraße, streetcar lines 12, 15, 16 and 18 will be subject to detour and cancellations. The suburban trains offer a good alternative here.

Details of the extended timetable

  • S-Bahn lines: Longer trains are in operation on all lines except the S7. On Fridays and Saturdays, these run until around 1 a.m., on Sundays until midnight.

  • Subways: The U1, U2 (to Nieder-Eschbach) and U4 to U7 lines run every 15 minutes on Fridays and Saturdays until around 1:30 a.m.. On Sundays, service ends at 1 am, when night buses take over.

  • Trams: Lines 11, 12, 15 and 17 run every 15 minutes on Fridays and Saturdays until around 1:30 am. Line 22 runs until 1 a.m., with a dense cycle in Oberrad.

  • Metrobuses: Line M36 will be reinforced between Eschenheimer Tor and Hainer Weg and will run with articulated buses.

Night-time services without interruption

A comprehensive range of services is available for night-time journeys home. In addition to the continuously running S-Bahn and U-Bahn trains, streetcar lines 11, 12, 16 and 18 as well as numerous Metrobus and bus lines operate around the clock.

Final fireworks: detour of the night bus line N8

On Sunday evening, the Untermainbrücke will be closed for the final fireworks. The night bus line N8 will then run over the Friedensbrücke.

Up-to-date information and cheap tickets

All information on timetables and possible detour is available at any time via the RMV service telephone, the RMVGo app or at rmv-frankfurt.de. The Deutschland-Ticket is recommended for arrival and departure. RMV season ticket holders also benefit from the RMV take-along regulation, which applies from 7 p.m. and all day at weekends.
