Space for more fans in the stadium: reconstruction of Deutsche Bank Park is on schedule

While around the Waldstadion currently the lights of the Christmas Garden Frankfurt shine, inside the stadium is vigorously worked. The match-free period is being used to expand the upper tier of the northwest curve. In the future, the stadium will be able to accommodate up to 60,000 fans. Preparatory work has been underway since last year, and since September the construction work has also been visible to the guests. The aim of the work is to convert the previous seats in the upper tier into a modern standing/seating system.

Sports Director Mike Josef, who today, Wednesday, 23. November, had informed about the status of the work, welcomes the good progress of the conversion work: "This expansion benefits the soccer fans: because in the future, significantly more fans with inexpensive tickets can follow the games of Eintracht live."

Also Eintracht board spokesman Axel Hellmann expressed his satisfaction: "Deutsche Bank Park has also been a successful model for many years from a European perspective and is a spectator magnet far beyond the borders of the Rhine-Main region. To ensure that the stadium also has development potential in the future, Eintracht is also making sustainable investments in the stadium's infrastructure."

In addition to the creation of the new standing areas, further sustainable comfort improvements for spectators are planned. At six locations around the stadium grounds, 680 new bicycle parking spaces will be created to meet the growing demand for suitable parking facilities. Anyone who has ever tried to find a place for their two-wheeler on a match day will be able to confirm how urgently the new parking spaces are needed.

The wheelchair spaces will also be modernized. In the future, the stadium will have about 180 seats for wheelchair users and about 250 seats for accompanying persons. Josef says: "This means that in future more than one person will be able to accompany the wheelchair user, a long-held wish from the district."

In addition, an additional cistern will be built as part of the expansion to store rainwater, which will be used to flush the toilets in the new WC facilities.

The work to expand capacity at the stadium will be completed on schedule in July 2023, and in time for the start of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season, up to 60.000 fans their place in the heart of Europe.
