In about three years, King Football will once again rule all of Europe when UEFA EURO 2024 is held in Germany. One of the venues will then be Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt. The European Championship kicked off on Tuesday with the presentation of the Frankfurt tournament logo for UEFA EURO 2024. A spectacular illumination of Frankfurt's Römer provided a fitting backdrop for the presentation. Accompanied by rhythmic sounds, Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann presented the tournament logo of Frankfurt as the venue for the European Football Championship for the first time.
Lord Mayor Feldmann said during the presentation: "Football and Frankfurt - they belong together like Ebbelwei and Geripptes. We have been the venue for four major tournaments, and world champions have celebrated their victories on our Römerbalkon. We are looking forward to welcoming teams and fans from all over Europe as a city in the centre of Europe in 2024. The logo is our calling card here. And it's one to be proud of." One look at the new tournament logo leaves no room for doubt: Next to the European Cup, Frankfurt's Römer is enthroned.
The logo presentation also marks the simultaneous start of the elaborate preparations for the world's third-largest major sporting event, which is guaranteed to keep all those responsible on their toes for the next three years. At the same time, the Frankfurt performance represents the cohesion within the tournament organisation. For in addition to UEFA itself, which presented the tournament brands to the public at the same time in Berlin's Olympic Stadium, separate campaigns were planned in all venues of the 2024 European Football Championship.
Sports director Mike Josef attended the Berlin ceremony as representative of the host city Frankfurt: "All the way to the German capital you could feel how much Frankfurt is looking forward to EURO 2024. From there, I will bring home many positive impressions and the Host City Trophy to the people of Frankfurt. As I was unable to attend the kick-off in Frankfurt, our new tournament slogan United by football - United in the heart of Europe has taken on even greater significance for me. I am convinced that the EURO 2024 will be particularly successful in overcoming distances and building bridges."
On the evening of 5 October, Frankfurt's greeting message "Gude Europa!" has been sent out. We are looking forward to you and the EURO 2024" with slogan can be admired on a multitude of info screens and station videos in Frankfurt city centre from 9pm to midnight. A message that we are guaranteed to encounter frequently in our city until after the EURO 2024. It will be interesting to see whether we can present ourselves as good hosts again as we did at the 2006 World Cup!
