All China fans take note, the Frankfurt Chinafest returns to the Roßmarkt from August 2 to 4 under the motto "Green development, low-carbon living and a sustainable future". The festival is open daily from 2 pm to 9 pm. The colorful festival stands for authentic performances, original Chinese food and open cultural exchange. Since it was founded in 2019 by the German-Chinese Art and Culture Association and the Guang Hua Culture and Media Group, the Chinafest has become an annual highlight in Frankfurt's cultural calendar. It offers a unique platform for Chinese-German cultural exchange for tens of thousands of participants and is an enrichment of Frankfurt's cultural diversity.
A window to Chinese culture: Chinafest presents the diverse traditional and modern culture of China, opening a window for visitors to get to know the country. Participants can look forward to a variety of program items, including performances by associations of overseas Chinese and artist groups from the Chinese provinces of Guangdong and Hubei. The artists will fly in specially from China to present authentic Chinese performances. Impressive performances of Chinese song and dance, instrumental concerts, Chinese dragon and lion dances as well as traditional opera are presented on the main stage. Culinary highlights from different regions of China offer the opportunity to discover the country's diversity of flavors and visitors can take part in a tea ceremony themselves. In addition, Chinese companies will present their latest developments in the fields of renewable energy, telecommunications and craftsmanship.
Photo and video competition In order to actively involve all participants, the short film competition "Chinese elements in my environment" will take place from July 29 to August 9. This competition encourages visitors to portray moments they have experienced themselves from the interaction between China and Germany from a first-person perspective, thus showing Germany and the world their feelings and understanding of Chinese culture. To participate, entries must be forwarded to the festival organizing committee. After the festival, the 10 - 20 best photos will be selected. A jury consisting of leading journalists and editors from cooperating media, as well as experts from the fields of culture and art, but also experienced professionals from professional film production companies will select and evaluate the 10 - 20 best recordings after the festival and then select the winners. Prizes include Amazon vouchers worth between 30 and 300 euros. The best films will be published on various platforms such as the Frankfurt Chinafest website and the Instagram and TikTok portals.
Sustainability in focus This year's Chinafest places particular emphasis on sustainability. In addition to the public festival in August, other events such as the ESG awards ceremony for companies, an exhibition for electric vehicles and an e-sports competition will be organized throughout the year. The aim is to find solutions for a green, low-carbon and sustainable future together with participants from all over the world. Further information can be found at frankfurt-chinafest.de
