Warning strike on Saturday: subways and trams are expected to stand still

There will be another strike - but this time in Frankfurt not during the week, but on Saturday. This has been announced by the trade union Verdi. It is expected that on Saturday, November 21, from about 3 o'clock for 24 hours all nine subway lines and ten tram lines in Frankfurt will be affected by the strike. In order not to worsen the already difficult situation for students even more, it was decided to move the strike to the weekend.

However, this will also affect many Frankfurt*ers who travel to the city center or also have to go to work on the weekend on Saturday. Because the subways form the "backbone" of the city's public transport network. A small consolation is the fact that suburban trains, regional trains and bus lines run according to schedule. This can often help as an alternative in Frankfurt's dense local transport network - but these trains cannot be a full replacement for the lines that are not running because of the strike.

The city's local transport company traffiQ and the VGF recommend that their passengers who cannot do without the journey or also cannot use alternatives such as the bicycle, get the latest information again as soon as possible before starting their journey.

As the union only discloses its strike strategy to a limited extent, this information is subject to change and may also change at short notice. traffiQ and VGF will provide regular and as up-to-date information as possible on the strike situation on the Internet, on social media channels and with notices, especially to radio stations. The union has already threatened further warning strikes for the coming Saturdays in Advent.

It is recommended to inform yourself via the radio stations, the RMV service telephone at 069/24248024, which is available around the clock, as well as on the Internet at https://www.rmv-frankfurt.de and on social media.
