Congestion in the new old town. Cars are suddenly bumper to bumper here. Don't worry, traffic isn't suddenly being funneled through the narrow streets of the new tourist attraction because of the Main River closure. Rather, the collective "Yarn Gang" has immortalized itself here with the yarn graffiti project "Wollkenkratzer". Overnight, skyscrapers were erected on the pillars next to the terrace of the Schirn Cafés, connected by streets on which all kinds of cars like a "Roman bus", but also a kiosk, dogs and other lovingly crocheted and knitted things.
For a good year, the supra-regional group has worked on this project. In the process, 35 kilograms of wool was made into houses, cars, roads and more by about 15 people. That this project was a lot of fun, the collective expresses in a message to the operators of the site as well as the hope that they spread one thing above all with their project: Joy! Who has observed the many people who have looked at the "Wollkenkratzer" on Saturday afternoon alone, which will be able to confirm that this hope has been fulfilled completely.
Only remains to be seen whether the guerrilla knitting also with the responsible persons of the city rather joy than anger evokes and whether one will also comply with the request of the group, one may not remove the project but please themselves. But let's be honest: if already graffiti in the new old town, then please so.
