Feminist diversity on stage: The 7th International Women*Theater Festival in Frankfurt

From Monday, 18. September to Sunday, September 24, 2023, the 7th International
Women*Theater Festival (IF*TF) invites you to the protagon site in Frankfurt's KulturOsten.
This year's edition promotes an intergenerational dialogue between artists
and audiences to share new feminist perspectives on healing generational conflicts
. A 2-day symposium of the IF*TF will be realized together with the Historical Museum
Frankfurt. The workshops are dedicated to women* and girls* and are funded by
a registration fee. Admission to all other events is on a voluntary
donation basis and open to all people. The festival is inclusive and accessible.
The IF*TF is part of the Magdalena Project, a dynamic global network for women* in
contemporary theater and performance. The Magdalena Project's activities are
wide-ranging: across international borders and across generations. It is a meeting place for
different performance groups and individuals whose common interest is to
increase the visibility of women*s artistic creation.

Under the artistic direction of Bárbara Luci Carvalho, the festival of the cultural association
protagon e. V. - international performing arts is realized through the support of the Hessian Ministry for
Science and the Arts, the EU program "Creative Europa", the Women's Department, the Department of Culture
and the Office for Multicultural Affairs of the City of Frankfurt am Main. The IF*TF is supported
by antagon theaterAKTion, Escuna Criativa e.V. and the Historical Museum
Frankfurt.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS YEAR'S PROGRAM


18. SEPTEMBER, 8PM, STAGE PROTAGON, "The Weight of the Soul Everything is temporary"
with CHIARA MARCHESE (FR) - Circus Performance - A movement from delicate, surreal
range to ancient depth of expression. The admission of instability becomes the starting point
of an intentional radicality.

19. SEPTEMBER, 8PM, STAGE PROTAGON, "Like a Lily" with PARVATHY BAUL (IN) & SANDRA
PASINI (DK) - The concert performance is a space where songs, colors, movements, dance and
storytelling create a living experience.

20 SEPTEMBER, 8 PM, STAGE PROTAGON, "My Dance" with NORA AMIN (EG - /DE) - The
dance performance is an attempt to shift power. And a reflection on female
sexuality, the erotic self and patriarchal oppression - at the same time on the influence
of colonialism and racism on belly dance and on the image of women that comes with it.

21. SEPTEMBER, 8PM, STAGE PROTAGON, "Daughter" with JILL GREENHALGH (founder of
international network "The Magdalena Project") & MEG ELLA (UK) - Over a period of <.x>BR</x> four days, Jill will work with 12 selected participants/performers by exploring
personal stories and experiences and incorporating them into this performance.
To date, the performance has been performed in Wales, Cuba, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Switzerland,
Germany, France, Spain, Denmark, Kosovo, India and Japan with professional
and amateur performers* of all ages.

22. SEPTEMBER, 4 - 7 PM, HISTORICAL MUSEUM FRANKFURT & 23. SEPTEMBER, 3 - 5
PM, BEDUINENZELT KULTURGELÄNDE PROTAGON, "Symposium: Feminism (inter) generational
- reflections, experiences and exchange" - A 2-day symposium of the IF*TF is realized together
with the Historisches Museum Frankfurt. Local and international participants
will discuss the participation of women* in creating an intergenerational
dialogue that seeks to connect feminism and healing. Admission with registration.

SEPTEMBER 23, 5:30 PM, HAUPTWACHE, "TABLE TALK" with Kollektiv KLAUS (AT) - A 50
minute performative installation in public space made of strong visual and sculptural
elements, movement and sound. The performance has already been performed several times in Vienna and as part
of the festival "Wiesbaden Tanzt" in Wiesbaden.
As part of the EU project "Common Ground", coordinated by protagon e.V.

23. SEPTEMBER, 9PM, STAGE PROTAGON, "UnsichtBar" with Laura Albrecht, Lydia Eller, Hanna
Green, Miriam Lemdjadi, Rica Lata Matthes and Angela Siebold (DE) - In the UnsichtBar reside
six female artists who are mothers, or six mothers who create art - depending on the perspective.

24 SEPTEMBER, 9 PM, STAGE PROTAGON, "GENDER GAMES" with Margò Paciotti & H.E.R.. (IT) -
The boundaries between genres are overcome in the theater performance with live music through a
transversal musical evolution: from baroque to electronic to rock to
pop.
